Reflecting On Spring Semester 2025

Hello Students and Faculty of Hofstra University!
As we kick off another exciting semester at Hofstra, we wanted to take a moment to look back and share everything that happened at the Zarb Store during Spring 2025. From new deals and creative promotions to behind-the-scenes progress and big announcements, it was a semester filled with growth, collaboration, and plenty of Zarb spirit.
If you missed anything—or just want a quick recap—here’s everything that made Spring ’25 a memorable one at the Zarb Store!
A New Look Coming Soon
One of the biggest updates this past spring was the announcement of our upcoming Zarb Store rebrand! While our mission stays the same, we’re in the process of refreshing our logo to better represent who we are today—and where we’re headed. The new design is still in the works, but we’re aiming for a launch in Fall 2026, complete with updated merchandise that’ll let you show off your Zarb pride in a bold, modern way. Stay tuned!
🎁 New Bundles, Bigger Savings
We kicked off the semester by introducing item bundles—a fun way to grab a mix of popular items at a great price. Whether you were shopping for yourself or picking up a gift for someone, the bundles offered a convenient and affordable option.
And let’s not forget the Student Appreciation Week sale in late March! Students scored an exclusive 50% off (up from the usual 30%), and shortly after, we ran Faculty & Employee Appreciation Week with the same amazing deal. We even gave away free car decals and wall pennants with purchases—a small way to say thank you to our Hofstra community for all the support.
We also tested some tabling events at CV Starr, bringing our store straight to students and helping get the word out about our latest promotions.
🔎 Behind the Scenes: Intern Departments Making It Happen
📊 Business Analytics / IS
The Business Analytics team was busy behind the scenes helping keep store operations running efficiently. They continued their shift from Google Drive to Microsoft Teams for smoother, more secure file sharing and built a media organization system using Flickr (and potentially YouTube down the line!). They also worked with other teams to analyze sales, social media engagement, and internal data—all to help us make smarter, more informed decisions.
And yes—Merch Mondays is in the works. We’re looking forward to rolling out weekly deals on featured items in the near future!
👥 Management
This spring, the Management team successfully onboarded 34 interns across all departments. From organizing trainings to checking off compliance requirements, they made sure every intern was set up for success. They also created detailed role guides and department documentation, helping bring more structure and clarity to each team.
As we wrapped up the semester, the team began prepping for Fall 2025 hiring, making sure staffing would be just right for another big semester ahead.
💰 Accounting
The Accounting team played a major role in planning for the future—starting with inventory checks ahead of Spring Break and helping to introduce Thrive, a system to help manage store inventory more efficiently.
They also helped set the stage for some big moves: working through the financials for a possible store presence at CV Starr and even exploring the idea of a mobile kiosk that could travel around campus. Plus, they led the charge on updating our discount strategy—introducing a new permanent 40% discount, along with special 50% events to help clear out inventory ahead of the upcoming rebrand.
📣 Marketing
After a quick break at the start of the semester, the Marketing team came back strong—relaunching our Instagram updates, helping promote in-store events, and teaming up with other departments to spread the word about our deals.
They played a key role in making events like Admitted Students Day and the Graduate Student VIP Night (April 23rd) a success, helping introduce the Zarb Store to new students while keeping our loyal community engaged and in the loop.
🧾 Finance
The Finance team wrapped up some major internal projects this spring, including a 15-week operations plan and the creation of a Canvas training course to help future interns navigate the store’s financial tools.
They also expanded access to Clover, the store’s point-of-sale system, and continued managing our financial reports, promotions, and overall budgeting with precision. These behind-the-scenes efforts helped create a stronger, more efficient workflow—and laid the groundwork for a successful semester ahead.
🚀 What’s Next?
Spring 2025 was packed with growth, progress, and planning—and it’s clear that the Zarb Store is heading into an exciting new chapter. From upcoming rebrand launches to expanded promotional efforts and department-led improvements, there’s a lot to look forward to.
We’re already building on what we accomplished, and we can’t wait to keep improving the Zarb Store experience for students, faculty, and the wider Hofstra community.
